ONE BLOG

As you may have realized I am concentrating my work on just one blog at the moment.
Two blogs at the same time while publishing my book "PAKISTAN NOW" is just too much.
I may take this one up when I am on the road again.

„Art is nothing but an imitation of nature”

Seit 2010 lebt Manolo Ty in Berin.

“Art is nothing but an imitation of nature“

In the exhibition “ 85°- Photographs from around the world“ Manolo Ty takes the viewer with him on a fascinating journey of landscapes, architecture and people around the globe. Originally hailing from Hagen photographer and artist, Manolo Ty, left home in 2006 and returned four years later and brought with him a new perception of the world. Europe, East-, Southeast- and South Asia, the Middle East, Central- and South America, the list goes on and on, altogether Ty visited and lived in over 85 different countries around the globe, and from every country, large or small, he brought back a single photograph for this exhibition.

Through these fascinating and varied travel experiences, Ty’s photography has a profound effect. His detailed use of colour and abstraction paint a mysterious and intriguing portrait of the varied and constantly changing environment he was faced with. The camera serves as the perfect medium with which he can instinctively capture a frozen moment in space and time. A moment made permanent, if you will. In his art, Manolo Ty exploits a symbioses between native aesthetics and his photography. The beauty of the nature of people and the small everyday things that vary so much around the world are the ideal inspiration for his practice. “Art is nothing but an imitation of nature“ – the unmistakable way in which he dynamically composes these shots to create a voyeuristic sense of being in close proximity with the subjects, the viewers tend to feel like they are taking part in the events recorded. Between the bright shimmering colours of some pictures and the decision to leave certain photographs black and white; The works sieze the viewer and impart complex insights about our huge constantly rotating globe and everything on it.

Manolo Ty has lived in Berlin since 2010. As a founder of Gallery E2, KON and VersusArt, he is a very active participant in the Berlin art scene. His art can be found in places from Bloomingdales in Dubai to the Amsterdam Arts Centre, and often in various events and exhibitions the world over. This solo exhibition in Berlin Germany will be the culmination of an Odyssey that spanned the entire globe and a chance to see and feel the earth as it stands in the present day.

FISHING IN LEBANON

Aitanit, Lebanon 2015

Returning from a boat trip on Lake Qaraoun in the Beeka valley
of Lebanon with view onto the Golan Heights I met this wonderful man
who was on a fishing trip with his family for the weekend.
Just when I arrived he hooked a nice big catfish.
Maybe I bring luck to fishermen...
You should always invite me to your fishing trips... :)

SOCCER WITH THE KIDS

Kerman, Iran 2013

While travelling through Iran I met a lot of nice people. This photograph was taken after
spending some time with refugee children from Afghanistan. Iran is the country hosting the second biggest amount of refugees in the world (850.000 people). Just behind Pakistan. And we are crying because of a few people trying to escape war. Especially the older generation should think about the fact that Germans (and many Europeans) have been in the same situation not too long time ago!

And now look at the ball...
broken, old... but who cares. The fun is still the same!

GRAVEYARD NICE

Nice, France 2014

If I can choose my final resting place (and it wouldnt be somewhere in the wild nature)
then it would be here. On a hill above Nice overlooking the Mediteranean Sea.
Alongside with artists and lovers of the good life! Just beautiful.
